REVIEW: Calla’s Kitchen by Teresa Crumpton

Calla’s Kitchen
Teresa Crumpton
5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Let me start off by saying this book made me very hungry while reading.  I mean seriously they were always cooking in the kitchen of Belladonna and the food sounded amazing!!!

Besides the fact that I really did want to smack Calla a time or two throughout this book I truly loved her and
Wes.  Best Friends who struggle with their attraction to
each other - What could possibly go wrong?

I loved getting to know a little bit about Calla in Donut Leave Me and fell completely in love with her in Calla’s Kitchen.

Poor Miss Calla...my heart ached for her at times but again I also wanted to smack her a few times. I mean seriously I get why she was upset and in a funk but I felt at times she really  just needed to pull up her big girl panties and take control of her life again. The one main thing she totally had going for her was her support system with her friends.  They were there to be her rock while she was crumbling apart.

In Calla’s Kitchen we see how Calla deals with her breakup from her fiancΓ© who she finds in bed with another woman.  Her confidence is shattered and it is not only effecting her daily personal life but also her cooking.  To add more drama to the mix her long time best friend Wes and her have been dancing around each other for years.  Will the two be able to sort out issues and finally be together?

Teresa Crumpton has definitely been added to my one-click Authors list. I was hooked on the story from the beginning all the way through and can’t wait for the next book. A 5 star read in my book

Calla Bond needs a rebound, and unfortunately so does her cooking. The chef and restaurateur lost her edge right about the time she found her fiance in bed with another woman. For the last year, the only thing saving her restaurant has been her family of friends willing to pick up the slack while she nursed a deeply broken heart. Now, however, Calla’s nearly out of credit with her closest pals, and they’re determined to help her heal her spirit and find her cooking mojo again.
Wes Westminster adores Calla, but his close relationship with Calla’s brother – not to mention Calla’s engagement – has ensured the two have been strictly friends. Even now, with no fiance in his way, Wes isn’t ready to jeopardize both of those friendships just to pursue the girl of his dreams. But Wes will have to make peace with his inner conflict soon, because Calla’s restaurant family is setting her up, and Wes is the one pushing her to move on.
Calla’s Kitchen may be read and enjoyed as a standalone contemporary romance!

Sunday Morning Coffee ~ Reviews By Em

Good Morning!
Happy Sunday!

I am a book junkie at heart!
Books are my escape from reality!
I love sharing my love of books with you all!

Check out the books I’ve devoured in February and March of this year.
They are all amazing reads - each in their own way.   Get to
ONE-CLICKING! You won’t be disappointed.

Let’s start off with....

Gorgeous - Book One
By Lisa Shelby
5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

• Review By Chasing The Words •

Oh where to even start....

Gorgeous has romance, angst, suspense, a sassy girl, a hot guy, and some teary eyed moments...I mean seriously how can you go wrong???  Oh and sexy time is hot...hot...hot...and sometimes sweet and romantic.

From page one I was captivated with this book. Olivia is an independent woman who has a secret.  Ronan is the hot, billionaire who is a hard@ss to the outside world but a softy when it counts.  When Ronan sets his sights on Olivia a series of events turn both their lives upside down.

I loved watching Ronan and Olivia’s relationship form.  One was very strong willed and wouldn’t give up. The other was scared and had trepidation.  What ensues between the two had me smiling more than not throughout the book.  I truly felt like they were meant to find each other in one way or another.

Secrets are revealed.
Feeling are shared.

Trust is born but is that enough.  Towards the end of Gorgeous I was on the edge of my seat reading page after page needing answers and them bam I read the words “To be continued...” and I literally said it can’t freaking end here I need my answers.  You know you are engrossed in the book when you didn’t see that ending coming and you end up talking to your book.  Thanks Lisa for making me look crazy in front of my family πŸ˜€.

Gorgeous is 5+ Stars in my book. I can’t wait to get my hands on book 2 to get my answers.  Lisa Shelby, another amazing book.  I loved every beautifully written word you wrote.

Next up.....

Our Alternate Ending
By Katie Fox
5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

• Review By Chasing The Words •

Oh my aching heart. I am not even sure where to begin.  Katie Fox will have your emotions all over the place. Our Alternate Ending is such a beautifully written story and sends an even more beautiful message at the end of the day. To love with every breathe you have. To have the courage to keep fighting when the fight is gone.  To have faith in a higher power and to not let fear stop you from living your life to the fullest every single day.

Owen and Elle met at a time when they both needed each other in one way or another.     A botched interview turns into life changing events for all involved.  Fate steps in and ultimately changes the course of two lives.

From page one I fell in love with Elle and her cute and quirky self.  Bad luck seemed to follow her wherever she went but she didn’t let that deter her.  She kept on trekking on. Her strength (whether she knew she had it or not), love for her family and courage were something I admired.  Faced with an unimaginable situation, decisions had to be made and she could with cower in a corner and run from it or step up and run towards it full speed.

Owen is the arrogant brut you couldn’t help but also love.  He frustrated me at times because he was such a puzzle.  I kept trying to piece it together and when all the pieces finally came together I understood where he was coming from and I fell in love with him more.

Page, after page my heart was in shambles. I was laughing, I was smiling, I had tears in my eyes or I had tears pouring out of my eyes.  At 5:30am I read the word “The End” and my heart soured from the emotions in the book and I felt like I could finally breathe again.  Definitely have some tissues on hand. Our Alternate Ending is a must read.  This is my first book that I’ve read by Katie Fox but will definitely not be my last. I am hooked.

I am going to leave you with one of the quotes that sat with me throughout reading Owen and Elle’s story....

“The road to our dreams is filled with obstacles, sweetheart. And that’s all he is: an obstacle. They all serve their purpose, and usually it’s not until we’ve reached our final destination do we learn if they were placed in our path to make us stronger or set us back.”

And then we have....

Tap That
By Jennifer Blackwood and R.C. Boldt
5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

• Review By Chasing The Words •

Tap That is most definitely a WINNER!
BINGO!!!

I just couldn’t get enough of Tap That.  Jennifer Blackwood and R.C. Boldt have a way with words that has you laughing one minute, hot and bothered the next and then even at times a little pissed off.  Reid and Callie to say are hysterical together is an understatement.  The banter back and forth between the two had me clutching my stomach at times from laughing so hard. It was like that awkward you don’t know if you should laugh or not kinda moments.  #Priceless

Callie, Callie, Callie...the girl got in over her head but damn if she didn’t do her best to make herself shine.  She did have some cringe worthy moments that  in my head I’m saying “Oh no she didn’t just say that”. LOL. She did also love to poke the bear (Reid) though...

“He’s like a big red do not push button. And now all I want to do is press the damn button.”

Then you have Reid and his smooth talking, sexy @ss self.  I loved him to pieces. He was down to earth and loveable.  He gave it just as good as he got it in regards to Callie.

I would tell you my favorite part of the book but I’m afraid it will ruin it for everyone so just know Reid has all the smooth talking, “anti-dating” stuff down pack.  I just absolutely loved Reid and Callie together.

Tap That is a definite must read! I couldn’t get enough of it!!!

And FINALLY......

Addicted To Love
By A.M. Myers
5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

• Review By Chasing The Words •

One day....
Couple of hours....
Addicted To Love was devoured...

A.M. Myers blew me again once again with Addicted To Love - book two in Bayou Devils MC series!  From page one I was addicted and couldn’t put the book down.  It was intense and has everything I love in a MC book.

Chance, the man definitely has perseverance and doesn’t give up easily.  Carly, the girl was infuriating at times. She was too independent for her own good and stuck inside her head more times then not.  But god how I loved the two of them and everyone within the Bayou Devils Club.  At the end of the day it was about family and sticking by each other through thick and thin.

Addicted To Love has angst, drama, suspense, some sticky situations, romance, hot sex, heart break and heartache.  My heart was in pieces a time or two and seriously broke for Carly and what she went through.  This book is a definite must read!

Cased - Moto X Book Two
By Brooke May
5 Stars

When I say this book wrecked me I mean it completely, 110% wrecked me.  From page one I was addicted. The story continues where Roosted ended and by god I could not put the book down - damn real life for getting in the way.

Brooke May has outdone herself with this book.  Axle and Paige became so real to me.  I felt there pain, I laughed when they laughed, smiled when they smiled and my heart absolutely broke for them both time after time.  I also felt like poor Axle kept getting the shaft but boy does that boy have perseverance and never gave up - even when he was making stupid mistakes.

Paige as much as I love her needed a smack upside her head a time or two - like girl how much can you toy with a poor guy.  I mean I now get why she is the way she is but before we find out parts of her story you really did want to smack her in a good way.

Axle and Paige’s relationship is like what Axle said “Fire and ice, that’s what we are. I only hope together we can bask in the heat.”  The heat between the two was undeniable but damn the Ice (Paige’s head really) for always getting in the way.  The back and forth between the two in this book makes the book a MUST READ!  Not only did I fall in love with Axle and Paige more but also with Parker, Len, Jax, Levi and even Axle’s parents and sister.   The main characters are not only so lovable but everyone in their lives is just as much and I loved getting to know them more.  Even when the last paragraph of the last chapter had me screaming.....

Cased is a must read.  Axle and Paige are being added to my Favorite Couples of 2018 list and I can’t wait for the next book where I’m hoping I get all the answers I need.

More: A You & Me Novel
by Lisa Shelby
(Book two in the You & Me Series. Can be read as a standalone.)

Mickey Jacobs and Alexandra Stotts have known each other since they were kids. Outwardly, living childhoods full of joy and laughter but privately both experiencing their own kinds of pain and disappointment.

Alex had always been taught what happens behind closed doors stays behind closed doors. The outside world saw her life as idyllic and picture perfect. But of course, things are never what they seem.

After watching his philandering father tear his family apart and break his mother’s heart time and time again, Mick vowed to never cause another person that kind of pain. Keep it simple. No relationships.
But then there was the sweet, exotically beautiful Alex. There was always Alex. With her…things were never simple. She was forbidden fruit. His sister’s friend. Off limits.

Alex was head-over-heels for Mick the moment her twelve-year old eyes landed on him. She knew at this young age that they could never be. Even if he wasn’t her best friend’s brother, he was still Mickey freaking Jacobs. Now, all grown up, Mick is gorgeous, the life of the party and an eternal bachelor. He’ll never be able to give Alex what she needs, and she’s not sure she could risk the pain that giving Mickey Jacobs her heart would surely inflict.

Can Mick and Alex find a way to heal themselves by loving each other?
Can he give her MORE?

More:  You & Me Novel

Another outstanding book by Lisa Shelby! Just when you think things can't get any better Mickey comes into your life. You know I thought I fell in love with him and his love for his niece and sister in You & Me but oh no my heart melted even further in More.  His protectiveness, His loyalty to his friends and even his silliness brought me to my knees at times.

Mickey the life of the party who doesn't want to settle down may or may not be brought to his knees in More.  Alex and Mickey's journey is a rare and unique one. I couldn't put the book down. From page one I was hooked - there were so many emotions that ran through me while reading.  It was an emotional ride of why's and trying to understand the reasoning behind Alex and her actions or lack of.

Alex grew up in an unhealthy situation and it has filtered into her adult life in certain ways but after all of her struggles has found a way to overcome them and surge forward as best as she can. Subjects are touched upon that are heartbreaking and you just want to jump into the book and smack a few people but at the end of the day More has a beautiful story of Hope, Love, Faith and Finding Yourself again.  All the while a "Sexy Beast" has been helping guide her, give her space and rescue her when needed.

Throughout More you can feel the love and support system that both Alex and even Mickey have.  I truly love books that you not only get to know the main players in depth but there friends as well.  What I would give to spend a night at the bar with Alex, Cami and Emily - what a blast that would be.  Then throw in all of there hunky men and hot damn it would be a party.  Lisa Shelby, the world you created is one that I pictured vividly while reading and I can't wait for the next book.  More is a true friends to lovers to friends to lovers book.  I loved reading their journey through all the ups and downs and in betweens .

More is a must read! I highly recommend you One-Click
and see how Alex and Mickey's story plays out.

Something Just Like This: A You & Me Novel
 by Lisa Shelby

(The third and FINAL book in the You & Me series. A series of interconnected standalones.)

I met Liam four years ago at my best friend’s wedding. He was tall, dark, handsome and cocky as hell. The life of the party who had no trouble finding new friends to go home with each night.
Now he’s here in my hometown and a part of my daily life. He’s still just as tall, dark and handsome as he ever was but he has quickly become a friend and confidant.
But if he’s just a friend, then why am I starting to feel the way I do about him? Why do I want to help him escape the pain that has clearly followed him here? Why does the beat of my heart pick up speed every time he touches me?
After 30 years of waiting for The One, could Liam be my fairy tale bliss?

Cami is fierce and loyal, independent and stubborn, sweet and sassy…and damn she’s hot as hell. I tip my hat to the man that finally conquers the fiery little redhead. Although, I can’t imagine there is a man alive worthy of her.
I know that man isn’t me, but I’ll be damned if I don’t wish it were. I’m still fighting old demons and I’ll never be enough for a woman like her, but it doesn’t mean I don’t want her. Every minute of every day my desire for her grows.
When she decides to make it her life’s mission to battle my ghosts and the pain that haunts me, she makes my need for her impossible to ignore. This woman has shaken me from my self-loathing and has brought me back to life. Back to the man I once was. The man I want to be.

Could someone like me be worthy of someone like her? Of something just like this?

#BeesKnees #Drag #SoMuchLaughter #GameChanger #BestFriends #MoveOverJonathanAndMickey #NewManInTown #GottaClaimLiam #CamiIsntTooShabbyEither #GirlCrush

Liam has met his match! I love watching hot, sexy men being brought to their knees by cute, sassy, strong willed women.

Well hot damn - Lisa Shelby you made me fall in love with Jonathan in You & Me, then I had to cheat on Jonathan with Mickey in More and now you bring Liam to me. Seriously what is a girl to do? I want them all!

I truly love finding new Author's. I was captivated with Lisa Shelby and her words in book one and two - You & Me and More. The third book Something Just Like This by far is my favorite of all three and didn't disappoint me what-so-ever.  I am in total love with everything that is Cami and Liam!!!  From page one you could feel the chemistry between the two and it just kept getting better and better as the book progressed.

You know when that time comes in a book when you just want to smack both the people in the head and say "get out of your head and just go for it" - well let me tell you that needed to happen a time or two with Liam and Cami. There were ups and downs but throughout the book you could feel every emotion there was to have.  From Liam struggles all the way to Cami and her need to be in control and strong all the time.

Something Just Like This is a must read! Start with book one if you haven't already and escape into the world of Jonathan & Emily (and Ireland), Mickey & Alex and last but not least Liam & Cami.  I love the fact that they are all friends and have made there own little family.  I can't wait for more from Lisa Shelby!
